Ryan Benning has worked in the financial services industry for more than two decades, providing an array of services and investment knowledge to individuals and small businesses. Specializing in retirement planning and retirement income solutions, his goal is to provide financial advice with an upfront and honest approach. “After more than 23 years and several nasty recessions,” Ryan says, “I’ve seen a lot of things. I help people hope for the best, but plan for the worst.”

Ryan founded Benning Financial Services to provide “big city service with a small-town feel.” He makes it a point to get to know his clients and their families. “I want to get a real understanding of what makes their situations unique,” he says. “And beyond helping them with financial and retirement planning, establishing lasting friendships with my clients is what I enjoy most about my work.”

Being relatively young in his forties, but with more than 23 years of experience, he is poised to accommodate families through multiple generations, which he feels is very important. Mitigating taxation is also an emphasis for all his clients.

A high level of knowledge and education has always been a priority to Ryan. “Because the world is more complicated now, working with an experienced, professional advisor to help you navigate it is critical,” he says. He graduated from the University of Mary, Bismarck, with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. He also received an associate degree in business administration.

Ryan currently holds Series 7, 63 and 65 securities licenses as well as being licensed in life, annuities and long-term-care insurance. He’s been a member of the President’s Club for more than 21 years, a member of the Chairman’s Club for nearly 15 years and served on the Executive Panel for four years with Berthel Fisher & Company Financial Services, Inc.

Ryan has lived in Bismarck since 1995. He is married to Katie, an elementary school teacher of more than 10 years. When he’s not in the office, Ryan loves spending time with his six children—Natalie, Ryder, Christian, Grayson, London and Blake. He also enjoys golf, fishing and hunting.
